notes

Cloudflare’s new CMS, EmDash, has sparked discussions in the WordPress community, particularly regarding its design limitations. The author expresses frustration with WordPress and WooCommerce, citing high hosting costs, cumbersome admin processes, and restrictive design tools. Despite exploring various page builders, none provided the desired creative freedom. Concerns are raised about EmDash’s rigidity and its ability to solve existing problems, especially as coding alternatives become more viable with AI advancements.

Open source projects, particularly WooCommerce, empower users to create real sites even without coding knowledge. However, the user experience can be frustrating due to the inherent complexities of commerce, such as shipping and tax regulations. While WooCommerce is designed to handle these complexities, it cannot address every unique business need or edge case, leading to a mix of love and frustration among users.
